Reiki for Stress Relief

Reiki for Stress Relief

“Your growth in the midst of a
big leap forward; hold steady
and allow yourself to bloom.”

- Yung Pueblo, Inward

The longer I work as a Reiki Master and practitioner and the more Reiki clients I meet, I am finding that one of the most powerful effects of Reiki is its ability to quickly release stress and anxiety. If you haven’t heard of Reiki before, it is a Japanese healing technique that works with the energetic body to release blockages so that your Ki, your life force energy can flow freely again. You can find out more about how Reiki works in this article.

Reiki is an intelligent energy source. When a Reiki practitioner channels Reiki through their hands, it flows to the areas within the client’s body where the strongest blockages exist. These blockages are accumulated difficult or negative thoughts, emotions and sensations. If we don’t release these blockages, they prevent our Ki from flowing freely and we are more likely to become ill, our immune system is weakened and our nervous system tends to be more in a fight-flight-freeze mode. All the layers or different bodies such as the physical, emotional and energetic body are interconnected. If for instance there is a blockage in your energetic body and it doesn’t become released, it will likely manifest itself physically showing up in form of headaches, migraines, stomach pain, back pain or other physical symptoms.

Once Reiki has detected an area within the client’s body that is blocked, it flows there to release the tension. This can happen in many different ways: Reiki can melt away the blockage which creates a cold sensation, it can burn away blockages creating a hot sensation and it can go into areas and raising the vibratory level by substituting negative thoughts and emotions with positive ones. From my own experience and from what my clients tell me, one feels centred, calm and deeply relaxed after a Reiki session. I often ask myself where all the bad thoughts or my anxiety went after I treated myself with Reiki. Did you know that Reiki is one of the few healing techniques you can use on yourself as much as on others? Find out more about Reiki as a self healing tool in this blog article.

Reiki has been my safety net for many years now, providing me with a quick solution for stress relief, anxiety and whenever I feel helpless. Reiki supports me whenever I can’t change my external world (which is often the case) and I feel stressed about life. It also helps me with sleeping problems because it immediately calms down my nervous system. Whenever I can’t fall asleep or wake up at night, I give myself Reiki for a few minutes and fall asleep during that. It always works! I see the same with my clients when many of them fall asleep as soon as they lay down on the treatment table which is a sign that their body is going into a deep state of relaxation. In a world where our life can be demanding as we deal with a multitude of stressors, such as a challenging job, parenting children, caring for aging parents or coping with an illness, Reiki is a simple yet powerful way to provide you with relaxation and an overall sense of wellbeing and peace.
