In Japan it is still a common practice that Reiki students attend monthly attunement gatherings with the local Shihan (Reiki Master). This practice was first introduced by one of Mikao Usui’s students, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi. He encouraged his students to receive Reiki on a regular basis after completing Hayashi Sensei’s Reiki training so as to continue to refine and develop the quality of the Reiki energy they channeled. From my own experience as a Reiki teacher I see that sometimes it’s hard to keep a strong connection to your spiritual practice just because life happens fast and we may from time to time forget the full value of Reiki.
